We decided to venture out to some nearby sights in the Boyne Valley. We made the choice to not go into Dublin. Just not a fan of cities in general. Rob and I had already seen the must-see sights of Dublin on our previous trip pre-kids and felt that with the girls, our time was better spent elsewhere. So, where do you think we went first? Of course, a castle.
Step into my castle! Don't mind the ghosts! At Malahide Castle.
We enjoyed a nicely paced guided tour and then wandered the property of 268 acres of woodland, park and walled gardens. This was an easy place to visit and the girls loved going into a real castle as well as running about on the marked path around it. With the obligatory castle fix fulfilled, you know what was next!
Traditional pub in a country seaside village! At Malahide Marina.
All the villages in Ireland are so pretty with the hanging baskets of flowers everywhere and the colorful doors and trim.
We ended our day by returning to Donabate beach and though it was drizzly and windy, we had a great time collecting seashells.
Irish rain didn't stop us from the beach - we stayed far high from the water to avoid getting swept away! At Donabate Beach.
